Important update for Filipinos travelling home

We are now heading into calving season, which is one of the most stressful and demanding times of the year in the dairy industry. We hope you are all enjoying your work, and for those of you who have recently arrived, we hope you are settling in well. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our pastoral care team.

Last week we attended Waikato Fieldays at Mystery Creek. The event was a great success and it was fantastic to see so many familiar faces, including Josephine and Greg pictured below at our stand with Natasha and Warrick.

Congratulations to Paulo Garcia!

Paulo Garcia has become New Zealand’s first Filipino MP! Congratulations Paulo, we know both you and your wife Malu have worked so hard over the past decade to get to where you are and we couldn’t be more pleased for you both! Paulo specialised in immigration law in Auckland for many years and headed his own practice, Garcia Law. Paulo, you’re an inspiration to many of the Filipinos who come to work in New Zealand, we wish you all the best in your new position.Paulo Garcia and Warrick Ryan

Important update: Filipinos travelling home

For those of you planning to spend time back in the Philippines, it’s important to be aware that changes in requirements for the OEC mean there is more paperwork to complete! Recently we have seen the POEA requesting an additional Addendum to the Employment Contract which requires both employer and employee to sign and for it to be approved by POLO in Australia. Please be aware that this request is becoming more common in order to obtain an OEC, and if it isn’t completed before your trip, it can mean some migrant workers are waiting for up to a month for approval to return to New Zealand.

To avoid an inconvenient delay, it’s important that you begin this process before you leave New Zealand. You will be required to submit a copy of your passport, current visa and make payment of AUD$18 fee for the processing of documents via POLO. Please let us know as early as possible if you are planning to return to the Philippines so we can assist you and your employer with this additional process.
